Hot off the press!

I just went and picked me up one of these! So excited to see the 4 page spread they did on an Amorology wedding! It was so fun to see it in print in Modern Bride...we love Modern Bride! Lots of exclamations going on here I realize....but not nearly enough!!!! Much love and many hugs to everyone who was a part of it and helped make things happen.

You've got to pick one of these up, if for no other reason than to see how cute Alison and Eric are and how gorgeous
Sara's photos are...and let's not forget the details! Thanks for sharing in my excitement. Many more great things are to come!

xoxo, heather

real wedding: Kara & Alex

I just popped over to Jen Dery's site and saw some of the beautiful images from a wedding we worked on together. I thought I would share a few from Kara and Alex's wedding back in October. The ceremony took place at Alex's parent's home, that was absolutely incredible. The backyard couldn't have been more perfect for a garden ceremony.

These 3 little guys were the groom's nephews and were so darling...and managed to make it all the way down the aisle!

The ceremony was so tender and special. It was so sweet watching how emotional Kara got. She had been so worried about it the day before when she had a hard time making it through the rehearsal...but I really feel like those emotions are part of what makes weddings so beautiful.

Following the ceremony we headed over to the reception that took place at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club. It was perfect for the elegant woodsy feel of their wedding with the warm tones and vaulted wood ceilings.

Thanks to Jen for the gorgeous photography and for being so great to work with. Be sure and check out Jen's blog for her latest work and many more great images!

The Elf on our Shelf

I am a huge fan of traditions. I think they are what tie families together...and what would Christmas be without tradtions? This has got to be my all time new favorite one and I just had to share it with you. Anyone who has kids or who is hoping for some...just needs to get in on this. Isn't he the cutest little vintage elf you have ever seen? He is also one fabulous incentive for the kids to listen to their mommies and daddies. Yes!!

All day, during the month of December, he sits on a shelf, plant, ledge, etc. in your home watching the children. Then when they are asleep he flies off to Santa to report on their behavior for the day. The next morning when the children wake up, the little elf has found a new place for himself. (This may be the hardest part for moms and dads). I can't tell you how many times I have forgotten to move him and have woken up in the middle of the night or early in the morning, to go sneak him from his spot to a new one! :) Oops! I haven't been caught yet, luckily.

My little guy loves to go searching for his Elf every morning though. Sometimes he thinks that he hasn't come back yet and then I'll hear him holler from downstairs, while I'm trying to get those last 2 min. of sleep, "I found him! He's in the shower. That's silly." It seriously is the best game of hide and seek.

He comes complete with this little storage box and a book that tells all about him. It even has a place for you to name him. Finn named him Ropie Kopie Bla. Hillarious right? I think he thinks everyone needs to have 3 names....but we call him after his middle name, Kopie for short. Finn absolutely adores him. I'm quite curious though if he will ever start to dislike him for being Santa's spy. We'll see. :) Anyone who wants to purchase one, can go here. Merry Christmas and Happy family tradtions!

a crowning event: Brian & Andrea

Okay, so I know I have been terribly slacking these last couple weeks at keeping up with the blog...but I am so going to try and make it up to you with lots of pictures (and I mean LOTS) from Brian& Andrea's wedding that took place at the Prado at Balboa Park. Leo Patrone gave us so many great images it was hard to choose. Thank you Leo! I can't wait to get this wedding up on my featured weddings section on my website so I can even share more.

So without further have seen the inspiration board (filled with crowns and Spanish flair, inspired by the bride's time spent in spain) are some of my very favorite details.

Bridesmaid dresses from BCBG and spanish fans
vintage crown postcard holder that we put to good use holding postcards and escort cards for the guests.

A Spanish guitarist for the courtyard of course
Hundreds of red carnations floating in the fountain. This was absolutely gorgeous as it greeted the guests at the entrance.
The overall large ballroom with a crown gobo we had customized for the dance floor. The chandeliers just happened to be shaped as crowns as well. How perfect was that?
Each table was named in Spanish and translated to such things as my queen, my treasure, my family, for always, etc. This one pictured, "Mi Cielo" or my heaven, sat at the Bridal table.
The beautiful bride herself in her breathtaking lace and silk dress by Alvina Valenta

Crowns adorned the centerpieces as they sat on custom made velvet pillows and beds of flowers. Twigg Botanicals used lush spanish roses in varying shades of corals, peaches and deep reds that was vibrant against the teal covered tables.
Godiva chocolate boxes sat at each seat tied with red ribbons and customized letter-pressed monogram tags by Pretty Handsome Paper.

The cake...oh, I loved the cake! We of course had to add a little crown to the top to tie it all in.

We had customized postcards made from vintage embroidered Spanish cards I found. Courtney Scowby Designs did an amazing job...really making these look authentic.
We added vintage stamps of course to the backs of the cards (notice they're crown stamps)...and Yes, the bride and groom did handwrite a personal memory to each guest on the back that was carefully placed at each seat. This was such a wonderful and thoughtful way to honor each guest and remind them how much it meant to have them there.

The parents of the bride catching a glimpse of the first dance. I love this picture.

A late night treat and a Spanish tradition...Churos and Hot tasty and a big hit.
The getaway...The Bride handed out long stemmed red roses as she said goodbye to her family and friends. They rode away in a pedi cab as guests saw them off.
One last kiss! Andrea and Brian you are truly divine in every way. Your kindness and love makes the world more sweet. What an elegant and beautiful day it was! Thank you for trusting me with something so special and for allowing me to share in all the fun. Love to you both!
